Chester Springs Studio Background
 In
1978, the Chester Springs Studio purchased a small bank barn and two
acres of land to provide a studio for neighbors to enjoy art and art-making
in their own backyard. A decade later, in recognition of the artist's
ability to interpret and transform society, the Chester Springs Studio
committed to the support of emerging and established visual artists
as a way to enrich the cultural fabric of Chester County.
The Studio's programs reinforce our mission through curated
exhibitions and juried residency
opportunities for artists; artists' talks, open studio visits, and
demonstrations to introduce art to new audiences; drawing, painting,
sculpture, and ceramics classes
for students of all ages and all levels of artistic experience; and
collaborative outreach programs that bring together diverse populations
through meaningful art experiences.
 Through
Art Partners, our programs reach out
to artistically talented and motivated young people by offering them
the opportunity to attend classes in Chester Springs or Coatesville
at little or no cost. The program also sponsors nationally recognized
artists visits in Chester County schools and develops art programs
in partnership with the residents of neighboring communities such as
Coatesville. Our goal is to make art a real part of peoples lives,
to initiate dialogues about art that include a multiplicity of voices,
and to lessen the social and economic barriers that too often limit
audiences for art and art-making.
