EXHIBITIONS
 The
Chester Springs Studios Exhibition Program evolves from
our belief that a vital regional forum for the presentation of new work
not only introduces artists to the public but serves to encourage courageous
expression.
Curated, invitational, and juried exhibitions bring the artwork of established
and emerging artists from the region and across the nation to Chester
Springs. Accompanying artist statements, interviews, lectures, panel
discussions, curatorial essays, and performances provide colloquies
where the concepts surrounding contemporary art are elucidated and explored.
 The
Studio also encourages members and students of all ages to show their
work in local and regional exhibitions. Shows throughout the year in
Chester Springs and at our Art Partners
Studio in Coatesville give our community a variety of opportunities
to exhibit and keep current with regional art. These include annual
exhibitions for members and students, as well as for our ceramic studio
assistants.
The Chester Springs Studio is located in a unique area of the Delaware
Valley. This site, with historic buildings in a village and large park-like
setting, encourages flexible and innovative exhibitions. Our gallery
space in a Victorian residence permits a warm environment for presentations
in an intimate setting. Our Studio barn with a north skylight is suitable
for large work and public receptions.
The surrounding landscape inspires a number of our exhibitions, reflecting
our rural location in Yellow Springs
and its rich history. Forever Emerging (1993) and Recovering
the Landscape (1993) both were site-specific to the grounds of the
village, using sculpture and performance in new ways. Reenactment/Rapprochement
(2000), again used the outdoor village
setting in an interpretive approach.
